allows the item of a tuple to set the range.  Should be a 1D tuple if no
end range is desired, or a 2D tuple if an endrange is desired
example:
change_cellref( (1,2) )  # starting point at row 1, col 2.  No end range desired
change_cellref( ( (1,2) , (4,5) )   # starting point at row 1, col 2.  End at row 4 col 5
