Class representing the application environment.

Environment objects hide details about the number of processes in the environment from other Core objects.
That is Core objects use Environment objects in the same way if the program is running in serial or parallel.
This means all MPI code is contained in this class.
The other Core objects use Environment objects to output text, split arrays etc.
